USVI Internship Program
The IU.S. Virgin Islands National Team Program offers an internship program aimed at high school and college-age applicants (16+) who are interested in gaining experience in sports administration, team operations, social media, and sports event management. The program provides an opportunity to work with our Men’s and Women’s national teams at major international events and is open to responsible, motivated individuals with an interest in lacrosse or athletics.
Overview of the Internship Program
- Open to applicants aged 16 and older (high school or college/university level).
- Roles may include team management, event operations, coaching/scouting support, public/media relations, physiotherapy, and video analysis.
- Interns work alongside staff at key national and international events, such as PALA and World Lacrosse Championships.
- Assignments can be general or targeted to specific areas of interest.
Application Process and Requirements
- Candidates are required to be members of the U.S. Virgin Islands Lacrosse Association and submit a detailed application with a résumé and three references.
- The program is highly selective, with short-listed candidates being interviewed by the intern committee.
- All positions are volunteer-based; successful applicants are expected to fundraise or self-fund a portion of their costs (typically $5000-$7000 USD).
- USVI Lacrosse is a volunteer-driven organization, and funding support may be available via a 501(c)(3) entity for eligible donations.
Timelines and Deadlines
- Historically, the application deadline has been in February for programs supporting events over the summer and early autumn, with selections announced by March.
